Top 10 largest countries in the world:

 There are obviously many countries in the World, and in each country, you can find different people, places and cultures. The size of the country determined by a couple of things including population and area. in this post we are going to be focusing on the size of a country depending on its area. The area of a country includes its landmass as well as any inland water bodies. We are going to be talking a look at the top 10 largest countries by size, starting small and ending with the biggest country on the globe. Without further ado let's see if we can't brush up on our geography and take a closer look into the top 10 countries b size. Here we enlist the top 10 largest countries in the World.



10. Algeria

  Algeria officially the people's Democrat republic of Algeria, is a sovereign state in Northern Africa on the Meditterrean costs, its capital and most populous city is Algiers. Located in the countries far north with  an area 2,381,741 square kilometers. Algeria is the tenth largest country in the World, and the largest in Africa. Algeria is bordered to the Northeast by Tunisia, to the east by Libya, to the west by morocco, to the southwest by the western saharan territory Mauritania and Mali to the southeast by NIger and to the north by the Mediterranean sea. The country is a semi presidential republic consisting of 48 provinces and 1,541 commune Abdelaziz Boutiflika has been president since 1999. Ancient Algeria has known many empires and dynasties including ancients, Numidians, Phoinicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Umayyads, Abbasids and the French colonial empire. Algeria is located right on the Mediterranean coast and it is actually the largest country in the whole of the African continent. It is surrounded by other countries such as Libya, morocco , Niger and Mali.  



9. Kazakhstan

  Kazakhstan is the World's largest landlocked country and the ninth largest in the World, with an area of 2,724,900 square kilometers. Kazakhstan is the Dominant nation of central Asia economically generating 60% of the region's GDP primarily through it's oil gas industry. It also has vast mineral resources. Kazakhstan is officially a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic with a diverse cultural Heritage. Kazakhstan shares borders with Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and also adjoins a large part of the Caspian sea. The terrain of Kazakhstan includes Flatlands, steppe Taiga, rock canyons, hills, deltas, snow capped mountains and deserts. Kazakhstan has an estimated 18 million people as of 2014. Given its large land area, its population density among the lowest, at less than 6 people per square kilometer. The capital is Astana, where it was moved in 1997 from Almaty, the countries largest city. The territory of Kazakhstan has historically been inhabited by nomadic tribes. This charges in the 13th century when Genghis Khan occupied the country as part of the Mongolian empire. Following internal struggles among the conquerors, power eventually reverted to the nomads. By the 16th century, the Kazakh emerged as a distinct group divided into three Juz. The  Russians began advancing into the Kazakh steppe in the 18th century, and by the mid 19th century. Some say that Kazakhstan is still picking up the pieces.

  Argentina officially the Argentine republic is a federal republic in the South America. Sharing the bulk of the Southern cone with its neighbor Chile to the west the country is also bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay to the North, Brazil  to the Northeast, Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean to the East, and the drake passage to the south. With a mainland area of 2,780,400 kilometer square. Argentina is the 8th largest country in the World, the second largest in Latin America, and the largest Spanish speaking one. The country is subdivided into twenty three provinces and one autonomous city. Buenos airs, which is the federal capital of the nation as decided by congress. The provinces and the capital have their own constitutions, but exist under a federal system. Argentina claims sovereignty over part of Antarctica the Falkland Islands, and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. Buenos airs also happens to be the most populous city in the country, with the greater buenos airs area having a population of 13,000,000 people. As far as population density goes, Argentina sites between Kazakhstan and Algeria with around 37 people per square mile. Citizens of Argentina should be proud of the fact that this country has the second highest human development index in all of Latin America which means that this is an especially well run country.



7. India

  India officially the republic of India is a country in south Asia. It is the seventh largest country by area, the second most populous country ( with over 1.2 billion people ) and the most populous democracy in the World. It is bounded by the Indian ocean on the south, the Arabian sea on the south west and the bay of Bengal in the southeast. It shares land borders with Pakistan to the west, China, Nepal and Bhutan to the northeast and Myanmar and Bangladesh to the east. In the Indian ocean India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives. India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia. The Indian subcontinent was home to the Urban Indus Valley to the civilization of the 3rd millennium BCE. In the following millennium the oldest scriptures associated with Hinduism began to be composed. Social stratification, based on cased, emerged in the first millennium BCE, and Buddhism and Jainism arose. Early political consolidation took place under the Maurya and Gupta empires, the later Peninsular Kingdoms influenced cultures as far as southeast Asia. India boasts a total area of around 1,269,219 square miles with 9.6% of that area consisting of water. Outside of that India also has the seventh largest economy in the world by nominal GDP, and they have the fourth largest standing army in the Entire World. More than 70% of people living in this country live in rural areas, although that number dwindles by the year.



6. Australia 

   Australia officially the commonwealth of Australia is a country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the Island of Tasmania and Numerous smaller islands. It is the largest country in Oceania and the World's sixth largest country by total area. The neighbouring countries are Papua new Guinea, Indonesia and east Timor to the north, the Solomon islands and Vanuatu to the north east and New Zealand to the south east. Australia's capital is Canberra, and its largest urban area is Sydney. Fro about 50,000 year's before the first British settlement in the late 18th century. Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australian's, who spoke languages classifiable into roughly 250 groups. After the European discovery of the continent by Dutch explorers in 1606 Australia's eastern half was claimed by great Britain in 1770 and initially settled through penal transportation to the colony of New South Wales from 26 January 1788. With an over all area of 2,969,907 square miles which is obviously a large jump from India before. Over 24 million people are said to live in Australia, which mean's that the country has a relatively small population density at about 8 million people per mile. Although you may not always think of the commonwealth of Australia as a big country, it definitely is one.



5. Brazil

 Brazil officially the Federative republic of Brazil is the largest country in both South America and Latin America. As the World's fifth largest country by both area and population, it is the largest country to have Portuguese as an official language and the only one in the America. Bounded by the Atlantic ocean on the east, Brazil has a coastline of 7,491 kilometers. It borders all others south American countries except Ecuador and Chile and covers 47.3% of the Continent's land area. Its Amazon river basin includes a vast tropical forest home to diverse wildlife, a variety of ecological systems and extensive natural resources spanning numerous protected habitats. This Unique environmental Heritage makes Brazil one of 17 Megadiverse countries, and is the subject of significant global interest and debate regarding deforestation and environmental protection. As a whole Brazil has an area of 3,287,956 square miles, and less than 1% of that area consists of water. Brazil is also one of the most highly populated countries in the World with an estimated 206,000,000 living there in 2016. This mean's that the country has an overall population density of about 62 people per square mile. You may not think of Brazil as a global superpower now, but many experts say, that it is well on it's way to becoming one. The country has a very strong economy with the ninth largest economy in the World by nominal GDP.



4. United States of America

  The United States of America commonly known as the United States or America is a Federal republic composed of 50 states a Federal district, five major self governing territories and various possession. Forty eight of the fifty states and the Federal district are contiguous and located in North America between Canada and Mexico. The States of Alaska is in the north west corner of north America, bordered by Canada to the east and across the Bering strait from Russia to the west. The state of Hawali is an Archipelago in the mid pacific ocean. The U.S. territories are scattered about the pacific ocean and the Caribbean sea across the stretching across nine time zones. The extremely diverse geography, climate and wildlife of the United States make it one of the World's 17 Megadiverse countries. America has a total area of around 3,796,742 square miles with a little under 7% of that area consisting of inland water. Over 320,000,000 million people are estimated to be living in the United States since 2017, which means that the country has a population density of about 91 people per square mile. The majority of people in America live in Urban areas, with the most populous city in the country being New York City. The United States of America actually has the largest population of immigrants in the entire World, which obviously contributes to the fact that this country is also one of the most ethnically diverse on the planet. It also has the largest economy in the World by nominal GDP.



3. China

  China officially the people's republic of China is a unitary sovereign state in the east Asia and the World's most populous country, with population over 1.381 billion. This country has a total area of 3,705,407 square miles. Isn't not less than America's ? This number does not include a few other parts of China, including Taiwan disputed islands in the south China sea, and disputed territories with India. If you added those technicalities then a total of 137,296 additional square kilometers can be added to China's total. China emerged as one of the World's earliest civilizations in the fertile basin of the Yellow river in the North China plain. For millennia China's political system was based on hereditary monarchies or dynasties beginning with the semi legendary Xia dynasty. Since, then China has then expanded fractured and re-unified numerous times. In 1912, the republic of China replaced the last dynasty and ruled the Chinese mainland until 1949, when it was defeated by the communist people's liberation army in the Chinese civil war. The communist party established the people's republic of China Beijing on 1 October 1949, while the ROC government retreated to Taiwan with its present De Facto temporary capital in Taipei.Its largest city is Shanghai, and it has one of the largest economies in the entire World next to the United States.

  Canada is a country in the northern part of north America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the pacific and northward into the arctic ocean covering 9..98 million square kilometers making it the World's second largest country by total area and the forth largest country by land area. Canada's southern border with the United states is the World's longest by-national land border. The majority of the country has cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer. Canada is sparsely populated the majority of its land territory being dominated by forest and tundra and the rocky mountains. It is highly urbanized with 82 per cent of the 35.15 million people concentrated in large and medium sized cities, many near the southern border. Its capital is Ottawa and its largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Despite its large size, due to its frigid climate, Canada does not  have a very large population with only around 35,000,000 people recorded as living there in 2016. This makes their population density just at 10 people per square mile, which is the lowest that we have seen on this list. Canada is highly developed country, and it is well known in north American for its civil liberties, quality education and quality of life.

  Russia also officially known as the Russian federation is a country in Eurasia. Extending across the entirely of northern Asia and much of eastern Europe, Russia spans eleven time zones and incorporates a wide range of environments and land forms. From northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia and north Korea. It shares maritime borders with Japan by the sea of Okhotsk and the U.S. state of Alaska Across the Baring strait.This massive country has an area of 6,592,800 square miles, dwarfing its competition. Fun fact; Russia alone covers up more than one-eight of the surface of the entire earth. The country spans two continents in Asia and in Europe, but the majority of the people who live in Russia live in European Russia. The capital of Russia is Moscow, which is home to over 10 million people. As a whole Russia has over 144,000,000 people living there, giving them a population density of 22 people per square mile. This country is seen as a potential global superpower, as a primarily due to the fact, that possesses such a large stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. Russia also holds the honor of being the first country to send humans up into space and for creating the World's first human made satellite.
